Daniel 8:12 – Truth was thrown to the ground

In Daniel by cwfeldmann

The book of Daniel predicts a time of victory for a terrible enemy of God. “He will speak against the Supreme God and oppress God’s people. He will try to change their religious laws and festivals, and God’s people will be under his power…” (7:25). In a subsequent vision, this enemy “grew strong enough to attack the army of heaven, the stars themselves, and it threw some of them to the ground and trampled on them. It even defied the Prince of the heavenly army, stopped the daily sacrifices offered to him, and ruined the Temple…Truth was thrown to the ground” (8:10-12).

My Bible contains a very authoritative footnote that the enemy in Daniel 8 “is Antiochus IV Epiphanes” – no question about it. Is the foot of Antiochus IV Epiphanes really big enough to fill the enormous shoe that is described in Daniel 8?
