1st & 2nd Corinthians: Rebellion in Corinth

In Corinthians by cwfeldmann

Speaking in tongues, women speaking in church, getting drunk at the Lord’s supper, eating meat offered to idols, a man sleeping with his step-mother – these were the issues facing the church of Corinth. This early Christian church was coming out of paganism and, in Paul’s absence, it would appear they were on the brink of falling apart. Paul resorts to using some Old Testament methods to bring this church back to Christ. Remarkably, “the love chapter” is found right in the midst of this contentious corresponce between Paul and the church of Corinth.
